The Vortex started life out called The Meteor and debuted with Arthur Traylen in October 1980. At the End of 1981, the ride was stored until Jim & Jeffrey Jennings purchased it in early 1982. Their ownership of the ride lasted just 3 years, and in 1986, Anderton & Rowland announced they had acquired the machine. The ownership was made clear by the addition of the A&B letters standing over a foot above the pay box. In July 2022, Baxter Manders took ownership and announced the ride would be known as Vortex.
