Built by Spanish ride builders Safeco, the Grasshopper ride was first owned under the joint ownership of Freddy Stokes & Jamie Norman and made its debut in Dubai, February 2007.
Due to its location, the ride initially had the name Dubai Bounce.
As with most joint ownership of rides, they dont last long and the ride soon became the sole ownership of Jamie Norman
Whilst under the sole ownership of Jamie Norman, the ride was taken to Malaysia, where it remained until 2017.
The ride came to the UK in 2018
Cornelius Gooch became the first to operate the ride in the UK when he made its UK debut with it in February 2018
The ride was purchased by Oliver Gilbey in September 2019, he made its debut with it at the Wisbech Statute Fair
Whilst under the ownership of Oliver Gilbey, the fairground industry suffered its biggest setback to date, when on 23rd March 2020 Boris Johnson announced the first of several UK-wide lockdowns to restrict the Coronavirus outbreak.
With rides up and down the country standing down, and showmen confined to their yards, some decided it was a good time to make major changes to them.
Oliver Gilbey was one of these showmen who began a major rebrand and refurbishment of the ride. The ride received many new parts, new paint, and Artwork done by Showman Signs. The name was also changed, and the ride would no longer be called Dubai bounce; instead, it would be called NO.1 Bounce.
*Whilst the ride had a major overhaul, the centre Cricket remained. This was due to it being Oliver Gilbeys' favorite part of the ride
*The ride has become a regular traveler to Ireland in the summer of 2025.
*Whilst the official brand of the ride is Grasshopper, the rides are more commonly referred to as Jump & Smile rides.
